Gray Season
how did november come so soon? someone told me today that in
i think my cat felt it. she seemed a little depressed this morning as i sat down to read the rest of Jeanette Winterson’s The Passion. now that i think about it, i think smudge (my cat) was just expressing her own quiet contemplative mood. she’s usually bounding around the house in the morning after her breakfast—full of energy and wanting attention. Today was very different, though. after briefly chasing her tinfoil ball around the kitchen, she plopped herself on the couch and watched Graham and i eat our breakfasts. i went over to her afterwards, picked her up and sat her on my chest. without a sound she adjusted her position and let out a sigh (yes, cats sigh). now, usually when i pick her up, she’ll do one of two things: 1) she’ll meow loudly to tell me to screw off and leave her alone or 2) she’ll give an ambivalent not-quite-purr-not-quite-meow to acknowledge her annoyance at my changing her position, and then curl up on my tummy and knead it till she starts purring. but today, a sigh. she’s sighed before, of course (how else would i know what a cat sigh sounds like?). but usually that’s if she’s been snuggling for a while and i’m ignoring her by doing any of the following: reading, studying sewing crocheting or talking on the phone. at any rate, it was clear that today was different. but i liked that.

I tried a pumpkin latte when I was in Edmonton. I don't get it. Ditto for gray skies, that one month when it's wet here really *drags* ;)
Secretary - you'd think I'd have seen that, but I had two different kinkster friends rant on and on about how lame it is, so I haven't made the effort. It's on the list to see, though...
If you liked the Young Machines, there's actually a new HSH album called the Past Presents the Future that I don't *think* you got. Has a great song called "A Match Made In Texas" that explores the heteronormativity inherent in nation, and then ends with a nice genderfuck denouement.
