A Few of my Favorite Things

Ok, well, maybe not my favorite things, but here is a list of some stuff, I'm up to lately:

What I am reading:
Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf (painful, yet beautiful in a way)
The Walrus Canadian magazine (An inciteful, almost scholarly magazine. I just renewed my subscription!)

What I am watching:
Flower and Garnet a film by Keith Behrman
Crash a film by Paul Haggis (so disturbing, beautiful, and briliant at the same time; difficult to watch, but worth it)

What I am doing:

1) Trying to make running a habit. It was damn cold this morning, though! If I hadn't got out of bed to drive Graham to school, I probably would have chickened out.

2) Went to a poetry reading lastnight. Mostly SFU affiliated writers. Jeff Derkson, George Bowring, Wayde Compton, and Karina Vernon among many other wonderful poets. They were absolutely brilliant, in short.

3) Trying to decide whether or not to take up knitting. Winter's coming and we're a little poor so perhaps some hand-knit book marks, scarves, pot holders or something will make for good inexpensive gifts this year.

4) Trying to find a job outside the realm of soul-sucking retail. Ok, perhaps not all retail is soul-sucking, but I'm so sick of "sell sell sell" consumerist, capitalist, consumption-addicted bulls**t that I think I might throw up if I have to do it anymore. Ahem...anyways...

Retail is by definition soul-sucking.
